NATURAL AGED MADURO TOBACCO
Natural maduro tobacco has undergone a longer more intense fermentation and some times at a higher temperature. A Natural Maduro is aged longer than regular aged tobacco. A non natural or boiled maduro is made by adding flavoring and boiling the tobacco in some kind of concocted soup that makes the tobacco look darker with out the extra aging time. The taste is the testament of the kind of aging process used. I think that a properly aged maduro has a great flavor and the other types of fake or Boiled Maduros taste horrible. This poorly processed maduro is what I believe causes some smokers not to like maduro cigars. A natural maduro  is a result of selecting tobacco leaves that has the ability to endure a heavy fermentation over a longer time than regular tobacco aging. If a tobacco is not aged correctly the smoke in you mouth will have an off flavor and harshness in the back of you throat. Some times the smoke will bite the back of your throat with a acid like flavor.

The Camacho Triple Maduro cigar that I smoked for this review was the corona size 44 by 51/2”. This cigar was will crafted. The wrapper was quite handsome with very tight seams and the Maduro was very dark and oily looking.

The cigar was very firm to the feel and smooth in my hand. There were no soft spots on this fine cigar. The cap was soundly crafted.

The foot was evenly packed and displayed the fine construction of this cigar

The cap cut very cleanly with out any loose tobacco and no ragged edges.

The pre-light draw was perfect, not too easy with a very slight resistance.
The cigar toasted nicely and the cigar lit evenly all the way across the foot.

The fist draw of smoke had very bold taste with some pepper on the middle of my tongue. Each puff produced large amounts of smoke. After the 4th or 5th puff the pepper leveled out to a nice spicily flavor with a woodsy cedar in the background and a little oil on the tongue.

The first third of the cigar became very smooth with some spice continuing to deposited on the middle of my tongue. I could also taste some roasted coffee. The ash fell off at about the one-inch mark.

Smoking a triple maduro is like taking an adventure. It is a cigar that a lot of smokers may not be willing to try because of the reputation of poorly aged maduros However this is not an overly strong cigar, on the smooth side and a rather pleasant smoke. This cigar displayed none of the harshness that can be found in some maduro cigars.
This was not a dry tasting cigar; the oil from the smoke delivered a pleasing taste.
In second third of the cigar the flavor moved to front of the tongue and the smoke continued to mellow out. The oil increased a little as well.

I like cigars with a good natural maduro when they are aged properly; this cigar produces that well aged maduro flavor. The construction of this cigar has remained firm without over heating. The final third became a little more intense, but continued to have the same flavor with the addition of dark chocolate.
The flavor of this cigar made me a little goofy.

My wife commented that she like the smell of this cigar.
Throughout the entire cigar it remained cool to the touch with no hot spots. I did not have to touch up the burn of this cigar. The last bit of this cigar picked up in it strength and the oiliness increased.

I enjoyed this cigar. However this is a cigar that Cheap Charlie cannot afford to smoke very often.

I do have one more Camacho Triple Maduro in my humidor and I will save it for a special occasion.

Enjoy!

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo E Stunner cigar

The E-Stunner cigar by tobacco artist E.P. Carrillio

Wrapper Ecuadoran Sumatra
Binder Nicaraguan
Filler tobacco from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic

This review covers the Corriente 46 ring gauge by 4 inches. 24 cigars come in a box.

The name for this cigar is perfect. Not because the taste is over bearing, but because this cigar is like a fine painting it takes your breath way. This cigar is a stunning work of art.

The over all craftsmanship in this fine cigar covers all bases. The look of this cigar is a beauty. The wrapper is excellent with small well-defined veins, oily shine and tight seams. The feel of this cigar is firm but not overly stuffed.

The foot shows a well-constructed cigar with no spaces. The cap is clean with no roughness, smooth all around, and the cigar cap cut cleanly.

The aroma is full of rich tobacco and earth. The pre-light draw was perfect, just a hind of things to come.

The cigar toasted effortlessly, and the first draw of smoke was heavenly. The first taste had a hint of sweetness and a full flash of tobacco with a smooth infusion on spice. All of the taste was on the front of the tongue. The smoothness of the flavor reminded me of the first time I tasted a Guinness beer. The beer was dark looking as if it was made of motor oil. But the taste delightful with very small bubbles, the same is with the E Stunner a very delightful tobacco taste with small bubbles of spice. Very smooth and stunning.

The first third of this fine cigar produced the same great flavors with a little maple and some oil that remained on the tongue between puffs. I had to maintain control over the frequency of draws the cigar was so tasty I did not want to put it down.

Just like a Guinness this cigar had a ton of flavor. The richness of the flavor remained through out the second third. The background spice did not increase at all, the smoothness remained along with the oil on the tongue. No harshness in the back of the throat. The tobaccos in the cigar had been aged perfectly. It was stunning.

The last third retained the same great taste. The only problem was, I could see the end of this cigar, what a shame.

I enjoyed this cigar to the point I could no longer hold it and take a puff with out burning my fingers. When I finished this cigar I licked my lips and found the same great flavor, how great is that.

This was what cigar smoking is all about! Fine construction, perfectly aged tobacco, artistic tobacco blending by a master and stunning taste. I recommend that when you get a chance to try this cigar, do not rush it. Find a peaceful place where you can set back and reflect upon a great cigar.
I will be adding this cigar to my humidor.

Enjoy.

Nick's Sticks Perdomo

Sun Grown
Handmade in Nicaragua
Robusto 52 x 5
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano
Filler: Nicaraguan long leaf
Binder: Nicaraguan

Nick Junior followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather as a cigar maker, although all he knew about cigars firsthand was smoking them. In August 1992 he launched a home business in his garage, the humble beginnings of Tobacalera Perdomo. Nick’s new company in Little Havana, Miami was named "Nick's Cigar Co."
The cigar industry’s version of a garage startup company.

I was visiting one of my local tobacco vendors, “The Brass Pipe”. When I came across this cigar. The first thing I noticed was “Little Havana” on the label. The next thing that caught my eye was that this cigar was Puro Nicaraguan. I like the flavor of Nicaraguan tobacco. Next thing I liked was the price $4.45 for single stick. I grabbed the cigar and went to the check out and asked a group standing around if anyone had smoked this cigar. A customer standing near the counter held up a burning cigar and said he was smoking one at this moment. We talked about the cigar, I liked what I heard and took the puppy home.

Nick’s cigar had a very outstanding looking wrapper, dark brown and oily, with a well-fashioned cap.

This cigar was well constructed, the seams were almost invisible. The cigar was firm and had an excellent over all feel. When I rolled the cigar between my fingers it felt solid.

The cap cut cleanly and did not leave any ragged edges. The pre-light draw was a little tighter then I like, but it was satisfactory.
Looking at the foot, the cigar appeared to be perfectly packed with tobacco. I was definitely looking forward to this smoke.

The cigar’s foot toasted evenly and lit effortlessly. The first draw was earthy with a little peppery taste on the front of my tongue. The aroma was very enjoyable and my wife commented that the cigar smelled pleasing.

The ash was light in color, but not white. The ash remained on the cigar for over an inch or more.

As I smoked the first third of the cigar it delivered a pleasant oily taste in my mouth with a good flavor of tobacco and a little hint of leather. Most of the flavor was on the front of my tongue without any harshness on the back of my throat, meaning the tobacco was well aged. Nick’s Stick was medium to full flavor. As I smoked Nick’s Stick the cigar became a little softer. I had to touch up the burn of this cigar a couple of times, but over all the burn was fairly even. I do not let a cigar burn unevenly for long with out correcting it, because I believe that an uneven burn will affect the taste of the cigar. When a cigar is crafted it is intended to burn evenly to deliver the correct flavor balance between the filler, binder and the wrapper. If it burns unevenly that balance is disturbed.

The second third of this cigar settled down to a very tasty smoke, with no spice or harshness on the back of my throat. Nick’s cigar continued to deliver a rich tobacco flavor with a trace of leather and some woodsy traits.

.

The last third of the cigar lost almost all of the peppery taste and developed a smooth almost creamy taste, with a hint of charcoal in the background. This cigar deployed a little nicotine near the end of the smoke. Nick’s cigar lasted about an hour and twenty minutes and left a pleasurable tobacco taste in my mouth.

I enjoyed this cigar and for the price of $4.45 it was a great cigar. At this price point you can afford to share. If you like medium to full flavored cigars you will like this one.

Enjoy!

Brick Hose Cigar Review

Robusto 54x5 Natural

Med to full flavored cigar

MADE BY: Fabrica de Tabacos San Rafael S.A.
FACTORY LOCATION: Nicaragua
Handmade with long fillers
WRAPPER: Nicaragua Havana Subido
BINDER: Nicaragua
FILLER: Nicaragua

a "puro" blend of hand-selected and aged Nicaraguan tobacco

This cigar has a rich leathery looking brown wrapper with small veins. The seams were hard to see and the cap is well make. Overall this is a fine looking cigar.

The pre light aroma of his cigar had a pleasant deep tobacco scent. The cap cut very cleanly and the pre light draw was effortless.

Up on lighting this cigar the first draw was clean and tasted of tobacco without any pepper. There was also a hint of cedar on the first draw.

The first third had a very delightful taste with a little bit of pepper on the front of the tongue, so far a very pleasant tasting cigar. This cigar was well constructed and felt firm between my fingers.

The second third of the Brick House cigar developed a little more spicy pepper on front of the tongue, but the smoke remained pleasant tasting with a suggestion of cedar in the background. There was no dry taste from this cigar and no hints of harshness on the back of the throat, telling me that the tobaccos in this cigar were well aged. The cigar remained firm, but continued to have a good draw. This cigar produced good amount of smoke on each puff throughout its life.  The ash was a dark gray, but never was very long at any time.

The last third of the cigar settled down and lost most of its pepper taste and developed some great creamy tobacco flavors. I enjoyed this cigar to the very end. The price range of this cigar was just over $5.00 and in my mind that is a good price for great cigar. I will be adding this cigar to my humidor.
