He idea of the Nub cigar is to start smoking a cigar at the Sweet Spot, the nub. Most cigars reach the best flavors in the last third. The Nub starts at this point around four inches. However the Nub is not a quick smoke because of the large ring gauge and the densely packed long filler tobaccos.

Completely handmade this is a unique cigar concept and smoke.

Available in Habano, Cameroon, Maduro or Connecticut wrappers, each box is labeled with the individual weight and smoking time of each cigar.

Sam Leccia a rep for the Oliva cigar company developed the concept of the Nub in his garage.

The cigar smoked for this review was the Nub Habano 4" by 60 ring gauge.

This is a very pleasing cigar to the eye. It is well constructed, very firm and stubby.

The cap is well fashioned. You can tell that the cigar roller that produced this fine cigar had many years of experience.

The cap cut very cleanly leaving no ragged edges or loose tobacco. The cut exposed the long leaf tobacco, showing how well it was packed.

The Foot on the Habano Nub was perfect and expertly formed and was very flat on the end.

The foot toasted uniformly and the cigar lit with out a hitch. A very good start, this cigar did not require any touch ups through out the entire smoke.

The first few puffs were smooth with a low amount of spice, no pepper, a little cedar and a hint of oil on the tongue, a very clean tasting smoke. This cigar started out with mild flavors.

The first third of the Habano Nub started to build the flavor. The spice, pepper picked up quite a bit as well as the oil content, still a smooth and balanced smoke.

This cigar was a gift from a good friend and fellow cigar enthusiast, Claudio. Thank you Claudio for this great cigar. Claudio is a big fan of Oliva’s Nub line of cigars.

On the second third of the Nub Habano by Oliva was producing some quality smoke. The cigar has picked up to a medium plus bodied smoke with spice and cedar. The pepper is now more predominate and the cigar has loads of oil on the front of the tongue. The cigar is also generating a little sweetness. The Nub has so far been a very enjoyable smoking experience.

The Nub Habano by Oliva has continued to be a balanced smoke. The spice, cedar, pepper, sweetness and oil have been working in unison to produce a great smoking pleasure. The Nub cigar built up the flavor very quickly from the start and continued that flavor through the smoking experience.

Overall this has been a medium plus bodied smoke. The cigar’s magnificent construction has provided firm and cool smoke to the end.

Even though this was a shorter cigar, it was not short on smoking time, a very unique cigar.

However once again I have reached the end of another cigar.
